A career that started out with service as an officer in the Australian Army, then with the Australian special forces where I learned and refined the art of leadership and intricacies of operations management. Then followed a series of roles developing, managing and marketing emerging web and mobile technologies where I developed a passion for the smart application of technology to create highly profitable and innovative business models. Then my brother, Trav challenged me to grow a moustache in 2003 for the first ever Movember. That moment changed my life, it inspired me and the other founders to establish Movember as a men's health campaign, a foundation and a global movement. I'm proud to say that moment has also changed the lives of millions of men from across the world. As CEO from the get go we built Movember into one of the most innovative and impactful charities created this millennium, working to change the face of men's health. Movember disrupted the charity sector by putting the fun in fundraising, by creating a cult brand that inspired a global movement focused on men’s health. Behind the scenes, Movember changed the way cancer research is done by requiring and facilitating collaboration not just at a national level but at a global level, something never before achieved in the sector. Since 2013 the Movember Foundation was named in the Top 100 Best NGOs in the world by the Global Journal. Given there are over 1.5 million registered charities in the US, Canada, UK and Australia alone this is a significant achievement. After 13 years as CEO of the Movember Foundation I decided to step down in June 2016. My passion now is to work with organizations at the intersect of profit and purpose to create world changing movements.
